Tumnus
The Tumnus, the most mythical and legendary overdrive/boost brought to you in a small enclosure; affordable, and most importantly…. available!

One overdrive circuit, right up ’til the present day, has been the most discussed, the most sought out, and the most legendary…
There is one overdrive circuit to this day has been the most talked about, the most sought after, and the most mythical of them all. It’s big, it’s expensive, and it has certainly earned its place at the table. Wampler has painstakingly and faithfully reproduced that magical tone in all its glory in an unbelievably small package, and its name is Tumnus. Tumnus is a versatile addition to any setup, any style. Stack it with another pedal to help push or shape the total amount of gain, use it as a stand alone overdrive, or use it as a slightly dirty boost to push the front end of your amp over the edge. You can even use it as a buffer, because just like the original this pedal is not true bypass. Instead, faithful to the original, this pedal contains a buffered bypass tone legendary in its own right. The Tumnus’ streamlined 3 control knobs (Volume, Gain, and Treble) allow you to quickly dial in your tones no matter what the gig calls for. We aren’t going to sit here and claim it has magical parts, or we sourced out 60 year old diodes that make it perfect, but we are going to say that during our research we looked at everything available and then only used the parts that Brian chose to replicate that amazing tone. Let’s face it, not everyone has room for a four-legged beast on their board. This smaller version slips in and out of a myriad of tight situations. Now you can have the tone. Now you can have history. Now you can have it all without having to sell your prized gear possessions. The Wampler Tumnus, standing up for that amazing tone, but without the outrageous claims often associated with it.

A Modern Classic
There is a reason this circuit has gained the reputation it has – it provides the perfect high headroom overdrive to send your tone into the place you’ve always dreamed it would go. It will bring out the harmonics you didn’t know where there, it will bring out the sustain you never thought possible and most importantly, it just makes EVERYTHING sound better.
Always the Right Fit
If you want a pre-gain boost to fatten up your tone… the Tumnus delivers. If you want a standalone overdrive…. the Tumnus Delivers. If you need an end of signal dirty boost to make you cut through the noise and have your solos wail… the Tumnus delivers. It doesn’t matter if you want to fatten up your pedals, push your amp or just need a beautifully organic overdrive – the Tumnus delivers.
Not just another Clone
We don’t believe in telling you about magic parts, we don’t believe in telling you that this pedal is an EXACT replica using the same fabled components… the originals were different, every single one… we took as many as we could find, found the common ground and made each one as consistent as the last. Each one is the perfect version of this circuit without all the magical unicorn tears and fairy poopdust.

Brian –
I use it as my gain plugged into my clean channel. I play metal with it, I play blues with it, and everything in between. I don’t know why it’s marketed as just an od/boost. It’s so much more.

I bought this pedal after seeing a Klon comparison on That Pedal Show. The Tumnus sounded the best to me and did not disappoint when I got it. It can go from slight boost to higher gain. It shines when your amp is on the edge and you want to push it a bit. Result is a sweet fatness to the signal. I run it at around 9:00 on gain and volume just above unity.

The Tumnus is so simple. So straightforward. It gives your tone that last little push into “fullness” when used as a clean boost. The drive tones are great, but man it just completes the sounds. Love it. Always on.
Antonello Vanni –
Hello from Italy. This is one of the best pedal I bought in my life. Choose your Strato, Tele, Les Paul (and also arch top!) and it sounds 10 times more better! I can not play anymore without the Tumnus. Time needed to get it sound great, after unboxing: 10 seconds! You did such a great project!

This thing is great. I got it expecting to use it in front of my RevivalDRIVE Compact, but I’ve found I prefer it after all my other overdrives. It adds the perfect amount of midrange to fill in the gaps in the RevivalDRIVE’s otherwise fairly bright tone. It also sounds great on its own and has plenty of gain on top. This little pedal is a bargain. You can stick it anywhere in your chain and get something special out of it

I didnt know how badly I needed this until it was infront of my recto, and now it’s never leaving. My tube screamer and my tumnus give me two different flavoured options for goosing the front end, and both are great in their own way. 10/10

First off, I never played an original Klon and this is my first Wampler pedal. This pedal was recommended to me by a friend who is a total pedal nerd and had one on his pedalboard. From the moment i engaged it i knew this is something special. The bottom end and the richness of every note just put a smile on my face. I don’t actually use it as a clean boost, but more like a light OD and slight volume boost over a “clean-ish” amp. It does wonders. In front of it i have a JHS 3 Series Fuzz set up with a low bias that i use for rocky-heavy “Black Keys, The Blue Stones” types of riffs and the Tumnus just rounds eveything together and pushes it into the amp. If this pedal went out of production, it will be worth a fortune.

Tumnus Deluxe. Wow! Wow! Wow! This pedal is a game changer for me. I absolutely love this pedal. It makes my nat amp tone so much better. But it additionally made my entire pedal board way better. Great job!
Zack Rosenberg –
What hasn’t already been said about this glorious little overdrive? It’s incredibly versatile! I’ve used it as a clean boost, a stand-alone low to mid-gain OD, and to add a little extra punch to stack with other pedals. I absolutely LOVE what a little gain on the Tumnus does to make my lead tones scream with the Pantheon and as a treble boost with the Velvet Fuzz. There’s so much to do for a mini pedal with only 3 knobs! If you want the “mythical” overdrive tone, the Tumnus is the way to go!

Have tumnus, will travel.

So much to offer in such a small package. Super sweet sounding overdrive on its own, but can also breath new life into your other drive pedals. I rarely turn mine off.
Justin Whidden –
This is my favorite drive pedal! I initially bought thIs pedal to handle my lead/big drive sounds. But I have found it to do much more! It is a great always on boost and equally sounds great with the drive up. This drive sounds great at any setting. It just makes everything sound better.
Michael Hecker –
Incredible low to mid gain drive. Even better clean-ish boost. I run mine in the FX loop. The deluxe offers more control but both the standard and deluxe are spectacular.
Farid –
I bought this pedal when I already had a full pedalboard with too many OD/distortion pedals, so once I set it up as the lowest gain “clean boost”, almost always on pedal, I liked it and never really messed around much with it.
Until last week when I took it off as I needed a small portable board. I had it as the only gain pedal on it. I did not expect to love it this much.
I am now torn on how to use it, and I’m considering redoing my board. It does the magic clean boost, which is why I got it, but don’t make the same mistake I did and underestimate it’s power as an overdrive.
