“The Gearbox contains two of our best loved drive circuits: the Tumnus and the Pinnacle.”
Andy Wood is recognized as one of this generation’s most influential guitarists: he spent most of his childhood playing and competing in festivals and touring the bluegrass circuit with his cousin and grandfather; by the age of 22 he demonstrated his outstanding electric guitar skills being crowned champion of Guitar Center’s “Guitarmageddon” competition. Andy has toured professionally with a wide range of acts including Rascal Flatts, Gary Allan, Locash, Scott Stapp, and Sebastian Bach. Andy Wood has totally blurred the lines of preconceived genres with his most recent album, “Junktown”, a masterpiece of different guitar styles and progressive southern inspired fusion. Junktown was recorded with a prototype of what is now the Wampler Gearbox Andy Wood Signature Overdrive.
Channel 1 (based on the legendary Tumnus) is a perfect addition to any board setup and any playing style. Its versatility allows you to stack it with another pedal to help push or shape the total amount of gain, use it as a stand-alone overdrive, or as a slightly dirty boost to push the front end of your amp over the edge. Channel 2 (Based on the Pinnacle, one of Brian’s most popular distortion pedals) delivers that legendary “Brown Sound”. The three band EQ lets you dial in your soaring lead tone while the unique noise gate keeps the clarity on point. Stack both channels together for tonal bliss - warm, yet brutal grunt; delicate and controllable harmonic overtones; beautifully defined distortion that cuts through the mix.
The Order switch lets you select which pedal comes first in the signal chain. For ultimate control, connect both sets of inputs and outputs to an external switcher to mix or match in parallel or series. Andy named this pedal the Gearbox as it was designed to be the driving force behind your sound.

This is my desert island pedal. I’ve tried to remove it from my board and replace it with other high-end pedals multiple times and it has squarely defeated all of them. I love using it with the Tumnus Circuit at light gain running into the Pinnacle at high gain, but my overall favorite method of using it is actually using each circuit on its own at decently high gain and pushing either side with my JHS Morning Glory. Gearbox + Morning Glory = perfection 🤝
Michael Corey –
The best drive pedal I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a lot of them. On the Pinnacle side, the higher the gain, the more it smooths out. The Tumnus side is what it is supposed to be. Two great pedals in one with a couple pof tweaks. And Andy Wood’s name is on it. Can’t beat that.

I love this pedal. Versatility, tone, simplicity, and a noise gate. Other than the lettering being hard to read, an awesome pedal!
Juan Carlos –
More like a question, instead of a review, since I can’t find this information anywhere else. Is there a bypass buffer switch on the Gearbox as it is in the Tumnus Deluxe? Thanks in advance!
Wampler Pedals –
No there isn’t – this is more like the Tumnus mini version of the circuit

Fantastic pedal, I’ve owned a few Wampler pedals over the years. I really liked the Pinnacle Deluxe V2. This is a simple, very versatile gain box. The sweep on the EQ section is “wide” as stated before. The pedal order switch, in / out jacks are nice. The gate is a welcome addition, very simple to use! I also like having the ability to use batteries, comes in handy to not have to plug in for power all the time.

This pedal has an “expensive tone”, a truly sweet flavor and is very comfortable to play.
I have to agree with others that have stated that the Gearbox sounds great from the second you plug it in and it’s impossible to make it sound bad.
I’m impressed with Wampler’s ability to pack in so many bonus features like the noise gate, ability to change stacking order and an additional loop in between the two channels of.
You get great sounds out of Wampler Pedals and they get great sounds outta YOU!

I ordered mine a few months back… still waiting. In the meantime, I got the HotWired… Man, this pedal is AMAZING…!
Wampler Pedals –
Hey Roberto, Sorry about the delays, hopefully the Hotwired gave you something awesome to play with while we fixed the stock issues!
Nick –
Incredible and versatile amp like pedal! When you have one of the best sounding and most responsive drive pedals ever (Pinnacle) and can use it seemlessly with one of the best boost pedals ever (Tumnus) it’s a sure thing tonally and a big win function wise. Exceptional tones, quiet operation and an expressive feel that works with every amp and guitars I have used.

Cant review. Been on order since August as was told today it has been pushed out to November sometime. Will availability pick up at all?
Wampler Pedals –
Hopefully not long – one Chip has been impossible to source so this has been incredibly frustrating for all of us….

Best pedals on the market
Wampler Pedals –

Good Day!
When are you going to have it available in our local dealer here in Philippines?

Just received the pedal and cannot stop playing with it. I really enjoy the soft touch switches to go on and off. Using Gearbox to enhance all the sounds from a Helix and using the right side as an always on to enhance all presets. I have watched all the video’s on this pedal and they do not lie. Nice knobs too…
